Car Alarms: 2002 VW GTI 5 speed, vw gti, lifetime warranty

I just took my car in for the third time for the Check Engine Light which keeps coming on.  They now tell me that the car has an after market alarm installed and that it can't/or they won't take out!  The car stalls out, shuts down, and you have to restart.  I bought the car used and have called both places and told them to solve this.  However, is there something I can do when I get my car back to disable the after market alarm system?  I have been using the VW alarm system that came with the car with no problem.  Please any suggestions.

The car should not stall from an after market alarm system install.  The worse problem an after market system should cause is not allowing the vehicle to start.

The dealership will not take out an after market alarm as they are not really knowledgeable about such things.  When you say you called both places, are you referring to the installation shop that put it in?  Most shops give a lifetime warranty on installation and if the problem is alarm related this would be covered.

I recommend taking it to your local installation shop and seeing what they would charge to remove it.
