I installed this starting system on my car a year or more ago and it worked fine up until a couple of months ago.. It started not lighting the parking lights when the start button was pressed or when the car started like it did before..and then it started to just click the starter solenoid but not start the car, it does this part of the time and sometimes it will go ahead and turn the starter but if I use the key it starts everytime so I take that to mean my starter isn't the problem.. my question is do you think  my  module has gone bad or could it be a bad connection,, but the parking light section of the module I do believe to be bad because I can put a test light on the wire going to the parking light wire and there is no responce when pushing the start or door lock buttons. also if I need to replace the module, can I install the ez2500 without changing the antenna or the wiring, I know I would have to cut the existing wires and splice in the ones from the newer modle? thanks in advance.. Vernon.
and the car I am using the remote starter on is a 92 Subaru  SVX.. and the unit does not have the alarm feature..
Answer -
No the 2500 is not wiring harness compatible.
Different system manufacturer. Best suggestion
is to write to Commando to see if you get some support,
or go ahead and just get a new system.

Trying to salvage the older 2200 will be harder
then simply getting a newer, better system.

That's my opinion on this one. You might want
to try something else this time.

Have a good one.

Thanks for your quick responce, one more thing,, is it your opinion that the Commando isn't the best  unit and can you suggest a better or more reliable one? thanks Vernon
Answer -
No actually it's kind middle of the road in my opinion.
Limited range, and the remotes are unremarkable &
tend to break easilly. I do not sell that system
on my site, allthough it's available. I just go
by track record, and to be honest, the 2200 is
a bit substandard for my taste. Big seller a
couple of years back because of the price, but
now everyone is finding out that the parts n
pieces that it was made of are not all that.

"If it were me", I would get a 2 way paging system
for best overall performance and range. The ASTRA
1000 2 WAY SYSTEM for instance is a better system,
with twice the range, tach or, tachless operation,
keyless entry and more. (see at www.COLDSTARTER.com)

But that's just me. You may be happy with the ez2200
and that's fine. Commando does not have it anylonger,
and replaced it with the 2300, then the 2500 systems
now made by SPAL. It's ok, but range is about 800 feet,
and I would need more, if it was my vehicle.

Have a look at the systems on my site and if you see
something you like, or have questions, write back to
me and we'll get you all set up.

I went to your site and looked at the ASTRA
1000 it is reasonable enough in price, about 69.00 I think it was. My question would be, can I just hook onto the wires I now have connected to the appropriate locations for things such as the parking lights, starter, door locks etc. my problem is I am  57 and it is a bear anymore for me to get coiled up under the dash and it would be a lot easier to just cut the wires from my old unit and splice on the correct ones from your unit,, do you see a problem doing that? I got spoiled to having a remote starter so I will have to get another one, I am not interested in the alarm feature?  If we need to discuss more about this issue , you can email me direct at vrl@fidnet.com.. thanks so much, Vernon.

lol, you have 7 years on my but I TOTALLY
understand! The old bones don't move as well as
when we we coming up in the world huh?
No prob though.

The ASTRA 1000 2 WAY was 99.95 with the 2 way pager.
And yes, I would give you the wire colors for the
Subaru again, and you would simply cut off the
2200's harness, splice in your own and you are all set.
Just sit at the kitchen table and pre wire it for
a quick replacement. I do that all the time in my shop
here when folks go to upgrade.

Your call, but the one with the pager increases the
range substantially. Oh, you will have
to remove the old antenna, and replace with the newer
one, but that's cake. Not hard at all.

Copy cut n paste the link below for
the system you prefer:

1 ASTRA 1000 RSW 2 way with Keyless Entry:

or go to www.COLDSTARTER.com and
simply click on the unit you like to pay for it,
and I will ship it out on Monday by priority mail.

I really do hate to keep pestering you , but what is the advantage of the 99.00 pager unit apposed to the 69.00 one? the range is not a real problem because I am usually not far from my car when I use it and to be honest, money is a little tight right now but if it has a big advantage using the higher one, then I would go with that one... Thanks again, Vernon

Answer
It's the confirmation aspect of it.
I like that but you don't "need" it.
Get the standard 1000. It's the exact same system
at 1000 ft.

Just go to the site and click.
I'll ship it out Monday.
