Car Alarms: remote starter with 2 way pager, viper 791xv, chevy 1500

I am looking for the best vehicle remote starter kit with a 2 way pager (for monitoring at a distance) as a gift for my boyfriend.  I have heard that viper is the best, but I see that where you find viper you also find valet.  Are they made by the same company and in the same way?  I think I would like to get him the VIPER 791xv but have also found lots of sites for the COMMANDO FM-870 tk2.  Is this a good brand?  Please help. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars only to give him a cheaply made starter kit.  Which would you recommend?  Feel free to list other brands, as well.  Thanks so much!!!
PS - he has a 2001 (I think) Chevy 1500.

Now let's see...first thing is you will
need to get a GM BYPASS MODULE (25.) for the remote
start part of it and 2 relays (12.) for the positive door
locks in the GM truck. (with any of the systems
chosen, you would need these parts)

That being said....

and you can get a wrist watch/remote 2 way paging
add controller that is very 007. But if you
want to save a bit on the overall system cost
for this specific project, I am leaning
towards the first 2 and in that order.
