Car Stereos: car stereo, power antenna, chrysler vehicles

Question
Hi I have a problem with my stereo i bought if i run a speaker to it using a normal speaker wire the radio and CD work but when i connect it to original car wiring only radio plays not the CD can you help.

Answer
Hi,

It sounds like your vehicle is equipped with a factory amplifier, and the amp is only being activated when you have the Tuner selected.  This usually means that the amp activation wire is connected to your head unit's power antenna output.  This is an especially common problem in pre-2002 Chrysler vehicles, but it occurs in some others as well.

Try this:  pull the head unit, and disconnect anything that's connected to the solid blue wire in the new head unit's plug.  Re-connect it to the blue/white wire instead of the solid blue wire.  This should get the sound to work regardless of the source selection.

Hope this helps!
