Car Stereos: Infinity Gold cd player, jeep grand cherokee, infinity gold

I have a '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee with an Infinity Gold sound system. The cd player began playing only certain Cds. Now it won't play any. The Cd goes in it sounds like it is scanning the CD. The display reads Track 0 and the time is 0:00. After about 15 to 20 seconds the display reads Err and the radio turns on. The display list the CD as Paused. Can this be fixed? I like the Stereo and don't want to replace. That generally leads to more problems.

Glenn, you have a couple of options, if you want to keep your current radio.  First, you can try using a cd lens cleaning disc to clean the lens of your cd player.  Sometimes, this will work.  More often than not, it does not work.  Then, the radio will need to be removed and taken to an electronics repair shop.  They will open up the unit and manually clean the lens to new conditions, and make sure the rest of the parts are working properly.  This lens cleaning usually costs about $50.  Hope this helps, Scott
