Car Stereos: Swapping Decks, 2004 chevy trailblazer, 2007 chevy suburban

Question
I recently purchased a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer LS and a friend of mine purchased a 2007 Chevy Suburban LT, he has also purchased a  new receiver and I was planning on it as well. In an effort to save a few bucks, could I put his old deck in my truck?  The only reason I want it is for the front AUX input. The only thing we're unsure of is if the '04 Trailblazer has the same 24LAN system as the '07 Suburban. Do you know if it would be compatible?

Answer
Hi Brian,

Sorry, but the mounting brackets, radio plugs, and data bus systems are completely different in the 04 Trailblazer and the 07 Suburban; the Trailblazer uses GM's Class II data bus system, rather than the newer LAN system.  Even if you were swapping radios in two identical Trailblazers, you'd still need the assistance of a dealer, because of GM's Theftlock anti-theft system--the radio can tell whether it's in the original vehicle, and will lock up if it's moved to a different one.

Hope this helps!

Brian
