what do you think is wrong with it and what can i do?

Answer
Hi,

Can you tell me if your Taurus audio system is all original equipment, or have installed an after-market deck or speakers?

I don't know of any common issues with the Taurus factory system.  The head unit in the dash is really just a controller; the heart of the system is the tuner/amplifier located behind the driver's-side wheel well in the trunk.  If your car's head unit is switching on and showing the display like normal, but you don't get any sound, then there's a good chance the problem is in the tuner/amp.

It's possible to replace the factory radio with an after-market deck, using a special adapter kit.  This only works for vehicles with rotary climate control knobs; if you have the digital pushbuttons, there's no adapter kit available.

Hope this helps!
