Car Stereos: Car radio, pushing buttons, mode button

Question
I was driving my car yesterday afternoon and turned the radio off for about ten (10) minutes. When I turned it on again, the radio display lights were on but there was no sound. None of the settings on the radio were changed and the mute button was not engaged. Any hints on what to check. Is there a separate fuse for the sound? That is the only item I can think of to check. Thanks you. Rick

Answer
Rick,  If the stereo was working fine before you shut it off, I do not see why it would stop working after you turn it back on.  I would guess that maybe it is not in the correct mode, or something else is keeping it from making noise.  There is not a separate fuse for lights and sound.  If there is something wrong affecting the sound, it would be some sort of short inside the unit.  I do not think there is a problem, though.  I think you should be able to start pushing some buttons and find the right button to make the sound return.  If I were trying things, I would look for a "source" or "mode" button to make sure the radio is set to FM.  Or, place a cd in and select the cd mode to see if it makes sound.  If you do not get anywhere just pushing buttons and trying things, let me know.  Hope this helps, Scott
