Car Stereos: Stereo not on, fuse boxes, frontier sports

Question
QUESTION: I recently installed a sony player to my 04 frontier sports package and it worked for a little bit but one day i turned up more than usual and it went out.  I checked all the fuses and they are good.  I reinstalled the stock stereo and still will not turn on.  Any ideas?

ANSWER: Hi Ron,

If putting the stock stereo back didn't fix it, then you're almost definitely dealing with a shot fuse.  Check the fuses again with a multimeter to ensure that they're good (some fuses LOOK OK but aren't).

And many vehicles have 2 fuse boxes now.  One near the driver near the steering column, and one under the hood.  Check both.

QUESTION: Thanks for the quick response.  I have checked both fuse boxes and they are good.  Is there an other fuse box if it is a rockford stock setup?

Answer
Hi Ron,

Did you test them with a multimeter?  An eyeball check isn't enough.

If the car has a factory system though, there's likely to be a fuse in the factory amplifier aswell that could be blown.

The factory amplifier will either be mounted to the roof of the garage, the firewall behind the glovebox, or under a seat.
