Car Stereos: Aftermarket stereo installation in 2003 Alero, sorry for the confusion, stereo installation

Question
.. I think you've mistaken me for someone else, as this is the first time I've ever asked a question on this forum ... I tried searching the forum, as well as google, but could not find an answer to my question ... but, as an update, I found that the "red wire", ie, the Accesory/Switched 12V power wire, was not connected to anything in the harness that I bought ... so I tried connecting it to every wire in the car, and the only thing that worked was attaching it to the constant 12V power wire ... now I have to detach the faceplate everytime I turn off the car.  I'm worried now that one time I'll forget to detach the faceplate, and my battery will go dead ... is there nothing that can be done?

Answer
Hi David.

Sorry for the confusion, whenever i sent you, "this is a duplicate question" message i meant that i've answered this question in the past, you can look trough my previous answered questions and find your answer.

Yes there is something that can be done, since your factory harness does not have a switched 12V wire you can grab this wire from the fuse box. There is some cars that are equipped with accessory pins where you can grab power out of and they are located on the fuse box, if your car its not equipped  with these you can grab that wire from the actual fuse (this is commonly done though i dont like this method), but what i always prefer to do its find the accessory wire on the main ignition harness (ussually located on the steering column) and grab it from there using a splitter connector or by soldering.

Hope this helps.
