Hey Ed,

I have a 1995 Jaguar XJ6 and I need to upgrade the stereo.  The six-disk CD player does not function properly (skips or does not read the CD at all) and the left front speaker goes in and out of function.  What is the most cost effective way to restore the system?  Do you know where the equipment can be purchased and the service can be done?

i have bad news for you.

when it comes to improving the sound system on a jaguar its not cheap. first of all there is not a aftermarket installation kit nor a wiring harness available (for me anyway, i dont even know if there is a company that makes them) i ussually custom build the trim and mounting out of fiber or wood depending on the costumer. but it can alwayz be done just make sure that you take it to a real good car audio shop. because they really need to know what they are doing on those cars. well that if you are planning on getting an aftermarket radio, but if you dont want to go through that just get a new factory radio at the dealership or at an auto salvage or ebay.com.
