Auto Racing: getting into racing, sports car club, sports car club of america

Question
Hi, I'm 18 years old and in college and recently became interested in racing. I've done some research and found that a lot of racecar drivers started in karting, but most of them at a young age. Do you think karting would be a good start for me or would you recommend something else? Thanks.

Answer
Virtually every pro driver in every pro series did some time in Karting.  There's no downside and it's cheap seat time. Until you can afford race cars and tires and fuel and towing costs. a Go Kart isthe way to go and have fun.

Then when your out of school, been working for a few years and have a little money coming in, you can graduate to Sports Car Club of America - - -they have programs that cover every aspect of road racing , from working the pits , to corner flagging to actual race instructing.

Those qre the two first steps I would suggest.
