Auto Racing: TIMING, exhaust stroke, compression stroke

Question
I HAVE A 1974 CORVETTE SMALL BLOCK 350 L48  I JUST PUT EDELBROCK PERFORMER RPM HEADS A COMP CAM 490 490 LIFT AND WHEN I WENT TO START IT I HAD THE DISTRIBUTOR 180 DEGREES OFF.  IF I WERE TO GET THE CRANK AT TOP DEAD CENTER ON #1 AND GET THE CAM TO THE COMPRESSION STROKE   DO I NEED  TO RESET THE TIMING CHAIN OR CAN I JUST ADJUST THE PULLEY TO TDC
THANKS NICK

Answer
Hi Nick ,The timing marks on a cam spocket and crank gear put #6 cylinder on tdc ready to fire ,#1 is on the top of the exhaust stroke .a quick but kinda crude fix would be to reaarange the wires in the dist. cap .the timing can be set normally .Good luck JM
