NASCAR Racing: engines rules, nascar rules, daytona race

Question
Hello, after watching the daytona race a freind on mine who is not a fan told me that some of the cars are six cylinder engines. Is this true or do all the motors have to be built to nascar rules. I do know at the local late model level of racing at old dominon speedway in manassas va they tell you what carb you have to run, what head casting , etc. Is that how it is at the pro nascar level?

Answer
Hey Anthony,

Yeah, NASCAR is pretty much uniform with their rules. But unless Toyota is trying something funny with their engines again, I believe they are all 8-cylinder engines. Very little separates the different makers, mostly body and nose style, some engine variations are possible, but they are so close, it really doesn't make a difference.

Hope this helps,
