BMW Repair: 1996 bmw 318 i, fuel pump relay, fuse box

Question
96 bmw 318i daughter slid into snow bank. car towed home. engine turns over but won't start. sprayed starter fluid in throttle body, got combustion, so i have spark and will combust, now i need to figure out why its not getting fuel. I did go into the fuse box and switch the relays to see if the fuel pump relay was bad. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
You are on the right diagnostic track.

Check and see if the fuel pump is running when you are trying to start it.  It's located under the rear seat.  You'll be able to hear it/feel the vibration once the seat is out.

A point of caution:  It's possible a fuel line is broken.  Make sure you're not dumping fuel somewhere below the car.

If the fuel pump is working, then disconnect the fuel line at the fuel injection rail at the engine.  Use something to catch the fuel if it's coming out.  If you have fuel there, then the injectors aren't firing.  Check for a connector or ???.  If no fuel there, you likely have a damaged fuel line somewhere.
