BMW Repair: BMW525i 1995, valve cover gasket, plug holes

My car wouldn't start. I had it towed to a service station.
They said the fuel pump, gasket, and spark plugs had to be replaced. Spark plugs were covered with oil. Also said it needs an oil change. They are charging $800. Does that sound reasonable? Thanks.

Not starting was probably due to the fuel pump.  The gasket is probably the valve cover gasket, as that leaking will fill the spark plug holes with oil.

Parts are likely about $300, and labor is likely about 4-5 hours, so the overall fee seems fair.  If you do work yourself, this could be done for probably ~$200 and 4-5 hours work.
