BMW Repair: e46, performance enhancements, side markers

Question
QUESTION: hello,
I want to replace the corner lights, side markers and rear tail lights. I'm thinking about getting them from a company called importvision.com. First, is it hard to change the rear tail lights? how do i do it? as well as the corner lights and the side markers. this description is what im thinking of getting-BMW Tail lights BMW E46 3 Series 1999-2001 4 Door Facelift Crystal Red/Clear/Red Taillights(4 piece set)
Item # IVAFKRL12119901.(go to importvision.com put the item #in the search window for a first hand picture) will i be able to pass inspection(TX) with red/clear/red tail lights? When i hit the brakes will the white or clear be illuminated? do i have to re wire the lights?

ANSWER: If you are asking how hard they are to change, you're probably not going to be able to do them easily yourself.

You're asking if they'll pass inspection in TX.  Not sure.  Some states they won't.

Here's my two cents:  Why put money into something that

-1 Won't increase your pleasure of driving your car.
-2 Will reduce the resale value
-3 Will make your lighting less reliable than OEM

I'd recommend using the money you were going to spend on these lights and drop in a chip, or do some other performance enhancements.  Sure, the high schoolers who see you drive by may not be as impressed, but BMW's are for impressing those who are in the drivers seat, and those who know what that's like.

QUESTION: ok.... but i hate the orange, haven't you ever changed something? perhaps your shoes or shirt because you didn't like the way they looked?- plus my question wasn't will high schoolers think my tail lights are cool if i change them. It was: is it hard to change the rear tail lights? how do i do it? as well as the corner lights and the side markers. did you happen to see the tail lights in question?
my other question was: When i hit the brakes will the  clear be illuminated? do i have to re wire the lights?
Also i plan on dropping in a chip, and doing some other performance enhancements. I appreicate you helping people
and thanks for your time.

Answer
I am unaware of the TX laws, and am unaware of how this manufacturer wires his lights.

Most of the aftermarket kits are illegal.  There are strict SAE (Society of Automobile Engineers) regulations on the color and brightness of all the lights.

If the clear are illuminated when you hit the brakes, it is not only illegal in all 50 states, it is extremely dangerous.  Should you be in an accident with lights you have modified, you are liable, and may be sued for intentionally violating safety standards.  Cornering lighs, turn signals, tail lights, and brake lights are all in place for the saftey of OTHERS.

I apologize for my attitude on this, but changing the color of your lights ranks even lower on the list than putting in LED windshield washers.  They are dangerous.
