BMW Repair: Idle Control Valve, variable valve timing, intake camshafts

Question
I have been having trouble locating the ICV on my '01 740il, VIN DP19261. I have seen pictures of an M62 engine where it shows the ICV just above the intake, but mine doesnt look that way. There is nothing that looks like anything close to it. Did something change on the E38 that did away with the ICV or changed the appearance of it? Please help. Thanks.

Answer
Jamie, You idle speed control valve was deleted on the M62 motor when it recieved a Technical Update in 2000 for the 2001 model year. Becoming the M62TU engine. Still a 4.4 Liter engine it recieved variable valve timing on the intake camshafts (single Vanos) and deleted the Idle valve completely as it picked up a fully Electronic throttle body (drive by wire as some call it) taking over idle speed functions. Yep no more Idle valve on the V8's since 2001.
