BMW Repair: Electric Window Problems on 1984 318i, window drivers, 1984 bmw 318i

Question
Hi, yesterday whilst out driving, my 1984 BMW 318i devoled an electrical problem with its power windows. This is only on the r/h side (Drivers' side - Australian car). The l/h side controls continue to work. This has resulted in my window (drivers window) being stuck in the down position. I checked all the fuses, and they are ok, so I think its possibly a problem associated with the wires. Can someone help me to rectify this drama?

Answer
Jason,
The problem could be in the switch its self.  You can remove the shift boot/cover and pop the switches out.  I would swap the switches and check it that way.  If the window works after putting the Passenger's side switch on the driver's side window wiring... then you know the problem is the switch.

It could also be the window motor... they do go bad.  if it's the motor, then you'll just need to replace it.

 Good luck,
 Josh
