BMW Repair: BMW 528 2000 outside air temperature redaout, bmw 528, computer functions

Question
The outside air temprerature, and other computer functions are not working.  I get a readout on the panel of -40F. Gas MPG apperas to be "frozen.  I am suspecting a sensor failure or power supply failute to same.  I have checked all fuses.  Where is this sensor located?  Does it go through a powered input/output board that could be fused?  I have no other functinality issues, so I suspect it is specific to this unit.

Answer
Bill. outside temp. sensor is located in one of the front lower bumper corner plastic liners. It is a black 2.5 inch long plastic probe (two wire connector) that faces the ground. This is a direct input to the instrument cluster and the cluster shares it with the A/C controls and others. Please replace it the sensor has been updated since 2000 if it is an original. BMW has repair wires and connectors if the bumper corner, wiring, or connector is damaged. Please fill out a follow up survey if this helps.
