BMW Repair: Tachometer and Gas Gauge not working, gas gauge, bmw 325i

I have a 1990 BMW 325i with a manual transmission. Whenever I start the car the gas gauge, MPG, and tachometer start working and about one or two seconds later they both just drop back down like the car is not even on anymore. Everything else on the dashboard works. I dont know what I should do or what it could be. Any suggestions?

 This is a constant problem with these cars.  If you read through past questions, probably 3 of every 10 questions are for guages not working.  2 of my E30's had problems as well.
 There are a couple of options.  You can pull the cluster out, and clean the contacts on the guages.  It's actually really simple and could be done in 30 minutes from removal to reinstall, while taking your time.

 Or you can search Ebay and find another cluster with mileage close to yours and buy it. You will still be taking a risk though.
