BMW Repair: convertible tops, haynes manual, bmw328

Question
Evan, my top on my 99 bmw328 is down and I cannot get it back to a closed position. I am thinking it is a bad fuse or maybe the motor. I want to check the fuse first, but do not know which fuse it is. Would you have a diagram or can you explain to me which fuse belongs to the top. Also is there anyway I can manually close it because I live in florida and it has been raining alot in the afternoon.

Answer
Sean, Under the drivers rear seat cushion is an emergency release handle. Give a good tug upward on the rear seat cushion in this area. Yellow or red teathered handle will be seen pull toward outside of car. This will release the C-top and Storage lid motors from their transmissions and allow movement of lid and top on the Semi-automatic Top Version (identified by manual locking handle to operate locks to windshield.) The Full auto top I believe has an allen key recess in the middle of the very front bow to manually move the motor driven locks to lock the top to the windshield. Fuses are in the Electronics box (fuse and relay carrier under the hood.) System fuses are 7,24,27,42,43 and fuse 49 in the trunk if you have the Fully Auto top. Also look at the E-box cover as there may be a few more involved like fuse 23? The ones I mentioned are off of the Wiring Diagram. This should give you a start and let you close your top from the elements. Consider purchasing a Chiltons or Haynes manual of your car.
