BMW Repair: driver side window doesnt work, window switches, shift boot

Question
have a 1988 325 convertible. driver side window doesn't work, but other windows do. what is most likely cause of problem. how do i remove door panel check motor? thanks...

Answer
Jeff,
Check the window swithes first to make sure its not the culprit.
You can pop the shift boot out, and just raise the window switches and unplug them.  Plug a different window's swith into the driver's side spot.  If the window works, the switch is at fault, if it doesn't, then it's likely the motor is shot.

In order to remove the door panel, remove the arm rest, and disconnect the wiring for the mirrors If applicable. Just pull the panel from the bottom and the door panel will pop loose, be gentle and dont break it.

Once it's off, you can see the motor, you might tap on it to see if it's just jammed.

 Good luck,
 Josh
