BMW Repair: Stalling, steering wheel, true way

Question
my 1997 740i suddenly started to hesitate and started to stall, check engine light came on. no codes were found. Changed all 02 sensors and fuel filter. car run better for 10 miles and stalls again. will restart and drive a short distance and stall again. check engine light does not come on. 99k, plugs changed 20k ago. some  leaking engine oil has pooled around 2 plugs. Cleaned this up and it seemed ok, but it now stalls again.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer
you need to get a better scanner.  If the check engine light goes on at any point, it is stored in the memory of the ECU, if your not getting any codes, than you either have a problem with the ECU or the stanner thats trying to read the codes from it.  Did the techincian plug the car in from under the hood or from the OBD2 port under the steering wheel?  The only true way to get codes is from the engine bay diadnostic port.
let me know.
