BMW Repair: 1971 bmw 3.0 csi, fuel injection system, bmw forums

Question
I have to replace the starter but it is in a impossible position to get at without either lifting the motor or ripping out part of the fuel injection system and about a half dozen other hoses. This isn't a big problem but then I'll have to locate all the gaskets. So if you have any short cuts, hints or suggestions it be greatly greatly appreciated

The accessibility of the starter on this model car was not fully taken into consideration when it was designed.  The only way I have ever deemed reasonable to remove the starter is to rip apart the fuel injection system.  I have never however researched easier ways to perform this task.  You may have some luck searching the forums at:
