GMC Repair: 2000 gmc K2500 6.5l starter problem, neutral safety switch, starter problem

the starter will not active with key switch. the neutral safety switch has been bypassed and the starter relay was replaced today and it would not start. I took a wire and jumped the starter and the truck started. I am asking to see if there is something that we have missed in the system or if there is a simple fix. the clutch answer worked very well. thank you

check the security light. Is it on, blinking or on then off?
If it stays on longer than bulb check (on for about 5-10 secs then off) you MAY have a faulty passlock module fault or wires.
Thats where I'd go from this point.
You MAY want to have the truck scanned for codes, the security system WILL set codes in the computer (VCM)
