QuestionI have a 1997 Chevy Venture Van. Engine size I don't know. I have been having a bad vibraton in the front end. When the van reaches a speed of 50 or more that is when it starts to vibrate. I took it to a repair shop and they told me I needed to replace both outer tie rod ends and get an alignment. So I did that. It did not help I still have the vibration problem. Do you have any suggestions on what to do? Thank You.
AnswerHi
MOST vibrations ON A VEHICLE are a reaction of a rotating
component.
A worn part MAY be a result of a vibration, but unless that part rotates, chances are it WILL NOT cause a vibration, under NORMAL circumstances.
This being said, I would have the TIRES, WHEELS and brake rotors and drums checked.
If these all check out OK< then it'll be time to check hub to rotor mating surface, hubs, drive axles and finally internal trans and engine components.
I would suspect, though, you have a tire/wheel issue, just from experience.
Good Luck
