GMC Repair: brake light is out, turn signal switch, left turn signal

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1999 2 door GMC Jimmy.  The driver's side brake light is out.  I tried changing the bulbs and the brake light switch without success.  I then ran a new wire from the brake light to the brake light on the roof.  The brake light worked but it caused the turn signal not to work.
Please let me know if I can provide any more information.

Thanks,
Sean
ANSWER: Hi
Check in the Under Hood fuse block, there should be a fuse for the Right stop light (RT TURN, RT TRN and TRR TRN) is how it MAY be listed.
Check it for being open.
If not, please follow up with another post.

QUESTION: Thank you for your reply, unfortunately it did not resolve the issue.  Just to clarify, when I tapped into the good brake light the brake and the turn signal worked, just not together.  In other words, when I am braked and have the left turn signal on, the light is solid.  When I release the brake the turn signal works.  Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sean

OK I see now.
Tapping into the CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Lamp) runs off a different circuit from the brake switch. The left and right stop lamps and turn signals both go through the Turn Signal switch (switch on column).
I would guess this is POSSIBLE problem.
I would though Go have it checked professionally, but the turn signal switch will create this problem.

Hope it helps
