GMC Repair: 1999 GMC Sierra Gas Gage, fuel level sensor, gmc sierra

Question
My gas gage started moving back and fourth making the low fuel light come on.  I had just put 12 gallons in the truck the day before, So I know that wasn't the case, Its been doing this on a regular basis.  I have never seen this before.  In what way could I fix this without going to the dealer?

Sounds like you have a failing fuel level sensor that is located in the fuel tank, this is common as the oxyginated fuels are erroding the contacts on the sensor, they call it a board, the only way to fix this is to replace the sensor with the updated part from GM parts,if you are able to remove the pickup bed then you can change it yourself, you'll need the help of others to remove the bed, though it is not to heavy for 4 people,2 on each side to lift up,if you are unable to do that then i suggest going to the dealer to have this done.let me know if you need more help,Thanks.
