GMC Repair: DURAMAX, ill search, bullitens

Question
I HAVE A 2003 GMC 2500 HD W 6.6 DURAMAX,112000 MILES. RECENTLY IT STARTED TO SMOKE AT IDLE , BUT WHEN I TOW OR DRIVE NORMAL IT IS FINE. WHEN IT IDLES IT IDLES A LITTLE RUF,AND WHEN I INCREASE THE RPM ABOVE 1200 IT SEEMS TO CLEAR UP SO DOES THE SMOKE. I RECENTLY LEARNDED THAT THE SERVICE GARAGE THAT WAS DOING MY SERVICE HAD NOT CHANGED THE FUEL FILTER IN OVER A YEAR, THIS IS CRITICAL BEING THAT I PUT ABOUT 30K ON A YEAR,I CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER AND IT MAKES NO DIFRENT, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS WERE GOOD AND THAT THE INJECTOR PUMP WAS GOOD, MY QUESTION IS, COULD THE FUEL REGULATER BE THE PROBLUM OR IS IT SOMETHING ELSE?

Answer
Hi,Harold

I believe the fuel injectors are the cause of your smoking,GM has issued updated fuel injectors because of this complaint, ive done many 6.6 fuel injectors because of this same complaint, the problem is that not many Dealership Techs can work on them, they are a bear to do,warranty pays 8hrs,and in the many ive done ive just scratched by at the 8hrs,this to a flat rate tech is money wasted.
There is a doc number that ill give you,GM has not issued any bullitens on this issue, this document is an internal PI the number is 1656376,also give me the area your located and ill search for a dealership that may be able to perform the service for you.
