GMC Repair: 2001 4.8 engine tick, sort time, time oil

Question
2001 gmc 4.8 truck auto has ticking noise between trans and oil pan. dealer said this common on this engine  sounds to me coming from oil pump area  only @ an idle for a sort time . oil weight don;t make any diff.  seems to run fine. just want your true imput if dealer telling me truth thanks

Answer
Without actually hearing this ticking noise it could be most anything.

The most common noises are caused by the plastic flywheel cover hitting the flywheel. This is especially noticeable when we have COLD weather and you firts strat it in the morning. As the plastic cover warms up the noise sometimes gets quieter and or goes away completly.
