GMC Repair: 98 GMC Jimmy / Loud Noise, airplane landing, gmc jimmy

For the past week, on/off my Jimmy has made a very loud noise that sounds like an airplane landing on my roof.  It seems to start after applying the brakes at a stop- then it will continue - sometimes through numerous stops, but will all of a sudden make a grand finale extra loud noise(sounds like I am going to blow up!). and then it is over. We took it to USA Muffler/Brakes and they replaced a Bearing - and I got a block away and the sound was back.  The repair guy offered his opinion that maybe the ABS system is out of whack? He said it sounds like it is telling the brakes to work when they shouldn't ... something like that.  Any clues?  I am already out $450 (hope I really needed that Bearing!!)

I dont think you did need that bearing either It sounds like a bad front rotor or here is what you should do i have a diagnostiac test on the abs system this will tell u if you are out of wack . instead of leting shop replace and guess with your purse not fair at all to u i belive it is a bad rotor . good luck to u hun please rate my service and you have a pretty name pete
