GMC Repair: 2001 grand am no start, fuel pressure regulator, security light

Question
hello, i have a 2001 grand am 2.4. the daughter drove it one day and in the morning it would not start. we checked the fuel psi at the fuel rail and was at 60psi. we checked for spark at the plugs and was good. i through a new fuel pressure regulator at it and still no start. we checked all the related fuses and they were good. she has had the security light flashing on the instrument panel on and off for a few weeks. can this be the problem? can i reset this system? what does this system do?

Answer
When you had 60 PSI of fuel pressure at the rail this eliminated the fuel pressure regulator as NOT being at fault.

Yes, the security light is a major concern as it is a theft deterent system of which disables the vehicle from starting. You will need to have a reputable reliable facility do the diagnostics and make the proper repair procdure. There are numerous possibilities as to WHY the light kept coming on and only diagnostics can pin point the cause.
