Alfa Romeo Repair: ECU, gtv 6, saab dealership

Question
I NEED A ECU FOR MY ALFA T SPARK 156 2.0 DO I HAVE TO BUY NEW OR CAN I BUY SECOND HAND ? WILL IT WORK THANKS

Answer
The only time I ever found faulty Bosch ECU's was in a SAAB dealership in the '80s and Bosch had a failure out of the box.
We swapped for the new units Bosch provided and no more trouble.  My GTV-6 has 250,000 miles with the same Bosch unit.
I cannot say that about other brands of ECU.

You have to be really sure that the diagnosis points to the ECU and then you have to find the sensor/activator that may or maynot have caused the problem.

I have no qualms about picking up a wrecking yard ECU.

By the way--are you really sure that all the grounds have a voltage drop of less than 0.4 volts...
