American Motors: Disc brake issues, drum brakes, residual check

Question
I have re bled the brakes, pulled the valve out .060,removed the valve switch, and the bled each wheel front to back. I also checked the push rod from the booster ? there is clearnce of about .020.
Still have the exact same braking issues as yesterday, fronts lock up..especially drivers side.
Could the calipers be defective ? They where brand new when i started this ?

Answer
What master cylinder are you using? Did it come from a vehicle with 4 wheel drum brakes? If so, there is a residual check valve built into it that keeps a slight pressure in the line.
If you have a master cylinder from a disc brake vehicle, look at the fluid in the reservoir while someone SLOWLY applies the brakes. You should see a slight swirling motion of the fluid when the pedal is depressed. If not, the piston in the master cylinder might not be coming back far enough and the compensating port is not being uncovered.
Can you rotate the front wheels without excessive drag as though a caliper is sticking?
