Audio Systems: Install issues, poor volume, speaker load

Question
I just installed a VM9312HD jensen.  The sub and amp work and so do the speakers front and rear.  When I turn the volume up the whole unit shuts down.  It plays at a low level but not very loud..like I can barely hear it when driving.  The fuses are ok the amp is connected correctly...I looked for crossed wires and checked with a volt meter...Help please.  The unit operates fine just piss poor volume.

Answer
The shut down is most likely from over-current protection and requires the load on the amp to be reduced.  If you have the amp (any one channel or more) loaded with an impedance too low for the amp according to its ratings that will cause it.  Check the impedances of the speakers. Also, a speaker with a shorted voice coil will cause this.  Remove the suspect speaker wire at the amp and try with less speaker load; add the speaker that is suspect and if it causes the shut-down you may have a defective speaker OR a speaker with too low impedance.
