Audio Systems: Mute stuck on DVD player, audio cable, transistors

Question
QUESTION: We own a Pioneer XV-HTD520 CD player that is stuck on mute.

ANSWER: Does the counter increase like the unit is playing?  Do you get video out of it?  What happens when you try a CD rather than a DVD?
Thanks,
Dan

QUESTION: there is no sound on dvd,cd,tv suround sound once in a while trying to try something a big crack sound, im trying both remote and manuel

Answer
Verify that the receiver is not the problem by moving the cables to another input.  If that is not the problem, then the most likely thing os a failure of the muting transistors inside the DVD.  I again am assuming that you see video form playing a DVD.  It is possible that there is a failed chip inside as well.  Try moving the audio cable to a different input on the receiver and update this.  Again please also indicate whether or not there is video.

Dan
