Audio Systems: Nissan 350Z Boze System, ohm voice coils, nissan 350z

Question
I have a 2004 Nissan 350Z with a Boze system CD problem. The left speakers quit working when the CD player is on for a short period. They always work when the radio is playing. Any suggestions on what is wrong and how to repair?

Answer
Bose are non-standard systems and if you take it into a shop be sure to choose one that has specific experience with Bose systems.  They do not follow the conventional scheme and interfaces that all the other manufacturers do.

In some systems Bose uses amplifiers mounted in the speakers and are tailored for peak performance with that particular driver, for example.

Sometimes the Bose systems use speakers with only 1 or 2 ohm voice coils and special amps to drive them.

In any event, you will have to trouble shoot the system and find out where the audio signal is being dropped.  Since it works okey with radio I would suggest the likely problem is with the cd player.  It could be a loose wire, bad cable or internal problems within the cd player itself.

Unless you are handy at troubleshooting and diagnosing, it may be best to take it to a Bose experienced shop.

If the unit has an iPod or MP3 input you could try this input and see if it works good or not.

Also, try wiggling wires, tapping on the cd player to see if you can reactivate an intermittent condition, etc.

There are too many possibilities for me to be very specific until we find more clues to help isolate the problem.

Let me know more.
