Audio Systems: serius direct connection, car radio antenna, antenna input

Question
I have a 97 Taurus SHO with a Mach sound system and a sirius radio tuner which works OK on FM wireless transmitter mode. I set up a direct connection kit with both the car radio antenna and the sirius FM-out wire hooked up to a connector that is wired to the amp/tuner via the antenna input plug. I still get FM reception but cannot get the sirius signal to play (reception is fine in wireless mode). Even after disconnecting the car antenna from the connector, I get FM reception, but the sirius signal will not play. What is going on?
