Audio Systems: no am radio, home stereos, car stereos

Hi,

Recently just had an Alpine 9856 installed in my car. Everything works great exept for the fact I cannot receive any AM radio stations. Is there a seperate antena that the installer should have hooked up?

weird.  no actually as far as i know, the AM is either integrated into the FM or acutally a separate antenna inside the stereo.
I'm not actually sure in car stereos wether they have the separate AM antenna like home stereos have.  in other words, if your FM works great but your AM doesnt.  and the AM antenna is inside the cd player, the problem may acutally be inside the cd player.
As I said, they are separate in home systems but Im not sure in car systems.
I do know that, strange as it may seem, aftermarket car stereos typically have worse radio reception than the factory stereos that come with the car.
