Question
hi im trying to hook up my new car amp and subs to my 96 chevy tahoe but i want to keep the stock stereo because it has the cd and tape player is there a way i can do that?

Answer
you can.  you'd get much better sound quailty if you changed the factory unit out for an aftermarket unit because of the RCA outputs.  But if you want to hook up an amp and sub to a factory system usually all you need to do is tap the wires going to a set of existing speakers (speakers on the rear deck usually work well for this.  My chart shows the Tahoe as having rear roof speakers?  I guess they're just up high?  these would probably be the easiest to tap,  just remove the covers off the speakers, remove the speaker, and splice/solder/whatever the wires going to them so they go to your amplifier's high level input.  if your amp doesnt have high level inputs you'll need a converter.  after that you just need to give it power and ground. and a remote trigger (usually from the cig lighter or the radio power wire in the fuse pannel)
