ok I just bought one of these and was woundering about upgrading
the stereo ...I noticed you installed a factory sub did you just
change the factory radio with another one?will any fatory radio
work or does it have to be a 2006? I was looking at using a
cleansweep but I would like to add a factory disc changer I found
on ebay but it is from an 04 and looks differant...thanks for any
insight before I start this project...Joe

The pacifica uses a system based on the CAN bus, (Controller Area Netwrok) with the amp/brain located under the right rear cargo floor. I swapped the OEM subwoofer from a 2004 to a 2005, and found the amp/brain had to be transplanted as well. This was due to the amp section for the subwoofer does not exist in the units with no sub. Otherwiase it was a nice clean upgrade, and will be coming out before this leased vehicle is returned. Does your car have the video system? Did the one you are looking at on e-bay? I'm unsure if you can mix video and non-video components. Also does you car have the OEM navigation system? This adds another DVD player under the left rear cargo floor! (and a layer of complexity...)
hey thanks for the great reply... no it does not have navi...if the donar car did have a video is not clear...so basically I really need to research ...might be easier to do an after market install...or better yet...I was reading about some people installing a macmini with a touch screen and a bluetooth cell phone thing to gain internet access...I really just need a little more bass and better front stageing...how big is the factory sub and where does it mount?I will probably try to find an aftermarket solution unless I can find a donar that is less expencive...thanks

Answer
For better bass, the factory sub helps, and hides behind the right rear cargo panel. There are better subs out there, JL Audio makes some awesome ones.
As for staging, upgrading the front speakers would help enormously. Changing the headunit won't really make that much difference, compared to speaker upgrades. Try to go with separates or "component sets" with an external crossover network.
