Audio Systems: 88 lebaron radio troubleshooting, aftermarket radio, speaker output

Question
hi i have an 88 lebaron convertable and was putting a aftermarket radio in it and the speakers do not work the radio works fine but just not in my car im not sure if the problem is with ground or not because i dont know what to do with it there were two on the stock one that clipped to the back of the radio one is black and green one is just a fat ground with no insulation and if i just hook it up the way it was stock the radio comes on but no speaker output and also on the new harness it has a black ground wire that does not go anywhere it just loops can u tell me what im doing wrong?

Answer
the fat braided one is the chassis ground of the car.  you can connect that to the black wire of the new unit.  the green wire that was clipped to the back may be a wire that turns on a factory amplifier which is why you are not getting any sound.
If you look at the 5th page here:

http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/DCP/PDF/327021.pdf

they tell you how to wire and activate the infinity amp in your car if you have one.

good luck!
