Audio Systems: Fuse blown, inch subs, ebay

Question
I recently installed a amd and 2 ten inch subs in my 96 tahoe....everything was good then i went to listen to the stereo later on that day and there was no bass....i check the fuse under the hood which is connected to the power wire and its blown, so i go to replace it and soon as it touches the metal it blows what is the prob? am i puttin the fuse in wrong or what? and what would cause the fuse to blow like that?

Answer
well there could be 3 things here an that's about it.

1.  the postative wire has shorted against the body somewhere,  somewhere it's pinched or it ran against a sharp piece of the car's frame and grounded out.

2. something has gone wrong inside the amp and the fuse blows becuase of this

3. the amp has very large capacitors inside it and using a lightweight fuse cant provide the amount of juice to charge them so it blows attempting to charge the caps.

most likely it's number 2 or 1.  to help find out, please answer these questions:
what is the make and model amp?
what amp rating is the fuse you are using
what is the wire guage you are using on the power lines?
please verify that it worked perfectly initially (you dont exactly say this, but I assume so, but I dont want to assume)
did you get the amp new or used or on ebay?
