Audio Systems: Amp, anyware, speaker wires

Question
i keep getting a red light over the word prot instead of the blue light that says power on my amp and my sub won't work any more any suggestions?

Answer
PROT means protect. this means there is something wrong and the amp is going into protect mode.  an amp will go into protect for any one of the following reasons:

The amp has overheated

The amp has too high of voltage from the alternator

the amp has too low of voltage from the alternator

one of the sub wires is shorted against the body of the car.

the amp's speaker wires are shorted together

the amp has some sort of internal problem

the most likely is one of the last 3. disconnect the sub and power it up and see if it still goes into protect.  If not check that the wires that go from the amp to the sub are not "pinched" or worn or any part of the metal inside the wire isnt touching the body of the car anyware.  if not your sub has probably blown.  if the amps still goes into protect, the amp my have some sort of internal problem and need repair.
Good luck and please let me know how it goes
