Audio Systems: installing a used cdplayer in my 95 ford aspire, ford aspire, fuse box

Im trying to install  a clarion xdz616 fold down face cd player in my 95 ford aspire because some one stole my other stereo out of my dash.  I cant seem to get any power after connecting the wires.  Any advice would be great...Thanks
 And no, I dont have money to buy a connector kit, sorry

The most common mistake is that the older imports have no ground wire in the original harness. try running your ground wire direct to a good ground bolt in the dash (metal, no plastic, no paint). Other possibilities are blown fuses at the fuse box, blown fuses at the radio, and hooking up to illumination for power instead of accessory and memory
