Audio Systems: need best AM radio and antenna., pioneer deh p47dh, antenna wire

Dear Victor,
    I live in the bush of Alaska and we rely on radio for our survival (earthquakes, avalanches, etc.).  I drive a 1987 Chevy S-10 4 x 4 and the radio died.  I was told the Pioneer DEH-P47DH was a quality replacement but AM reception is poor and comes and goes depending on the bumps in the road.  Upon inspection, the stock antenna wire is bad.  What is the best antenna I can put in for AM reception ?  Don't need or use FM and satellite radio does not reach us.  Thankyou,  Joe Ray Skrha

You can try a standard antenna with an amplifier, sincerely i cannot recommend anyone specially since it is uncommon to install that in city areas, but audiovox is a good brand for that kind of accesories, you can always contact the guys at:
