Audio Systems: DVC sub wiring, ohm stereo, channel amp

Question
Hello, Mr. Mullins. I have a 4 ohm DVC subwoofer(4ohm for each voice coil)and I am wondering instead of using series or parallel wiring techniques if it is possible to use a two channel amp and use one channel for each voice coil? Will the sub play like this or are series/parallel techniques a must for the sub to play?I am asking because I am trying to keep within suitable limits of impedance for the amp, which is 4-ohm stereo. Any help you could offer with this question would be very much appreciated. Thank You. Robert.

Answer
Robert,

as long as the channels ohms match each VC ohm rating, if its a 4ohm DVC with 2ohm's on each coil or so on, it is fine, and will work great, but if your amp has a bridged mode that meets the ohm requirements for both VC's wire it in parallel this is a better option because it usually supplies more power.. hope this has helped you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
