Audio Systems: Car Head unit question...., power wires, honda civic

Question
Hello, I have been trying to figure out the problem with my head unit.  I have a head unit (Jensen MP5010K) installed in my 1992 Honda Civic.  About a month ago, it stopped workin and I have been disconnecting and reconnecting the power wires, nothing.  I have checked fuses and they were fine.  Now this past thursday, I said to myself let me fool with this again.  Apparently I hadnt put electrical tape back on the ground wire as well as the yellow switched wire.   When I put the tape on the gound wire and turn on the car the reciever came on and the clock was displayed.  I got happy and moved the reciever that was on my lap, causing the head unit to not work any more.  So I kept jigglin the ground wire and it seemed as though the connection wasnt tight.  I came to this idea because the clock on the radio would appear and vanish.   After diconnection the wire and reconnecting the wire, nothing.   This is all frustrating to me cuz the reciever doesnt appear to be broken.   Are the wires just bad or should I just take it to a technician for complete reinstallation?   I dont want to pay a hefty price  if its something that I can do but right now Im giving up.  Well thanks for reading, I hope you can help!

Answer
If your just jiggling the wires and leaving them bare after the install, I would suggest getting a professional to re install the unit. But I would have it bench tested first, as you may have fried some of the internals with the bare wires touching.
