Answer -
sounds like pickup needs to be cleaned, also slider mechanisim needs lubrication with some good quality teflon impregnated oil..if you can't hear the disk spinning, pioneer is well known for the disc motors going bad. sorry to bear bad news, but unless you're skilled with the operations of cd players, take it to a repair center and let them do it. that way you get a warranty, too. hope this helps,   g........

Answer
you have to take unit apart, you will see the 'clamp' that presses down on cd, there should be a screw or two holding the clamp,(a spring, too) then you can see the pickup lens, it's about a 1/4 inch around, grab a couple q-tips, breathe on the p/u to moisten it, and gently clean pickup lens. NEVER use any cleaner, just the moisture from your breath is sufficient. don't scrub hard, as lens is unfortunately plastic. p/u will wiggle around a bit when you clean it, don't worry, just don't be rough. don't disassemble any more than absolutely necessary, could cause major electronic alignment problems. good luck,    g......
